GP 2015 R2 Feature List - Over Credit Limit Visual Indication

Another nice and simple feature in Dynamics GP 2015 R2 is the ability to warn the end-user that a specific customer has exceeded the credit limit, the warning could be a message box or a warning icon next to the customer number as a visual icon.

To activate this feature, Go to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Sales > Receivables.
Now on this window, there are two check boxes added for both message box warning and visual icon warning, as shown below.
Receivable Setup - Over Credit Limit Options
Checking the "Warn if Customer Over Credit" option, will activate a warning message box which will pop up once a credit limit is passed, as shown below:

Additionally, checking the other option "Display Over Credit Icon" will show a warning icon next to the customer number field indicating that the customer has exceeded the credit limit.

GP 2015 R2 Feature List - Combine General Ledger Inquiry Windows

Proceeding with the 2015 R2 feature list, this post sheds a light on a simple and yet attractive feature which is the combine of General Ledger inquiry windows so that open and history years can be accessed from a single screen.

General Ledger - Combined Inquiry windows
As shown above, the inquiry windows were designed around the fact of either history or open year. Open years summary and details were accessed from open inquiry windows, while history years were accessed from history inquiry windows.

Summary Inquiry Comparison
In previous versions, summary balances are accessed from two different windows which are "open" and "history" windows as shown below.

                     Summary Inquiry In prior versions
In GP 2015 R2, these two windows are combined into one summary inquiry which access both open and history years as shown below:
Summary Inquiry In GP 2015 R2 "Open and History"

Details Inquiry Comparison
In previous versions, General Ledger details are accessed from two different windows which are "open" and "history" windows as shown below.

Detail Inquiry In prior versions

In Dynamics GP 2015 R2, the two windows above are combined under one window which is the Detail Window for both "open" and "history" windows.

The same logic applies to the account summary window which is accessed from Cards > Financial > Account > Summary Button.

Analytical Accounting Distribution Query Wizard "Login Failed for User" - Resolved with GP 2015 R2

We have witnessed an issue with the analytical accounting module when using the "Distribution Query Wizard", apparently this inquiry works only for the "sa" user and it gives a login failed error for any other user, including DYNSA or even a user with database sys admin role. Pretty interesting isn't it ?

Symptoms:
You configure the distribution query wizard going through the steps to create a dynamic analytical accounting report with the "sa" user. The query can be tested and exported perfectly without a single issue.
Once trying to either create a new query or execute an existing one with any other user than the "sa", the query maintenance crashes while processing and gives the following error.

Query Maintenance Wizard Processing - Error

  "Unhandled object exception:
[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'xxx'.

EXCEPTION_CLASS_OBJECT_EXCEPTION
ExceptionSubClass:-2147217843
"

"Unhandled object exception:
Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.

EXCEPTION_CLASS_OBJECT_EXCEPTION
ExceptionSubClass:-2146824584
            "

I have tested the exact same case on both GP 2015 RTM (14.00.0524) and March Hotfix (14.00.0061) with the same login failed error.

Resolution
The resolution has seen the light with the release of GP 2015 R2 (14.00.0724) , it is mentioned in the product customer source, Service Pack, Hotfix, and Compliance Update Patch Releases forMicrosoft Dynamics GP 2015
